Direct Primary Care and You
Do you accept health insurance?
Even though this is a primary care practice, I do not work with insurance companies. Direct Primary Care allows me to see fewer patients and provide the personalized care they deserve, without the rushed, low-quality, complicated demands of insurance-based care. Joining my practice means you’ll get an appointment when you need one, our time together will not be rushed, I’ll return your calls and we’ll work together to pursue a healthy future!
When I join your practice, should I keep my health insurance?
Yes – joining my practice does not replace your health insurance. I see patients regardless of their insurance status, but I recommend you maintain your coverage for expenses beyond primary care, such as hospitalizations, surgeries and visits with specialists. Your insurance can also help cover prescription medications, imaging and laboratory testing.
I’m pretty healthy – do I need an ongoing membership?
I’m glad to hear you’re healthy – and I want you to stay that way! My background in integrative and lifestyle medicine emphasizes improving health through everyday changes and healthy habits, which is a great fit for those wanting a proactive rather than reactive approach to their health. Let’s face it: An ongoing, one-on-one relationship with a physician that includes follow-up and open communication is beneficial to your well-being. That’s why I chose Direct Primary Care – it allows me to get to know my patients and offers continued personalized care in a relaxed, unhurried environment.
What is the membership commitment?
Joining my Direct Primary Care practice means you’ll pay a month-to-month membership fee that can be cancelled any time, with 30-days notice. There is no enrollment fee, and I offer a 10% discount for patients who are able to commit to a 1-year membership. As a member, you will have direct access to my extensive training and expertise, I’ll always make time for you and you can see me as often or as little as you’d like.
Is there anything else I should know?
Is your practice only for women?
I designed the practice with women in mind, but will happily see patients of all genders, ages 18 and above.
Is this considered a concierge practice?
No, it’s not. While my Direct Primary Care practice does offer an elevated level of care, it is more patient-friendly and flexible than a concierge practice. For example, concierge practices typically charge a retainer or annual membership fee in addition to copays and billing your insurance, while my practice collects only your month-to-month membership fee.
Can I pay the membership fee with my HSA/FSA account?
Some patients are able to get their memberships covered by using HSA/FSA accounts, but it varies by individuals and plans. It’s best to check with your plan administrator or tax accountant to find out if your account can be utilized for Direct Primary Care membership.
Do you accept Medicare patients?
Yes – I accept Medicare patients but I do not bill Medicare, nor can my patients bill Medicare for the primary care services provided. Medicare can still be used to cover laboratory testing, imaging, medications, referrals to specialists and hospitalizations.
Where are you located?
In-person appointments are held at my private office at 2601 Lac de Ville, Suite 100, Rochester NY 14618. I am open to virtual visits, as well.
